IG Sends New Commissioner Of Police To Enugu

Jayfred Ugo

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu, has ordered the immediate posting of CP Ahmad Abdulrahman to the Enugu State Command as the new Commissioner of Police.

He is expected to take over from CP Suleiman Balarabe, who has been redeployed as the CP-in-charge of Intelligence in the Force Intelligence Bureau, FCID, Abuja.

The Enugu State Police Spokesman, Frank Mba, on Tuesday, presented a statement on Tuesday, which confirms the deployment of CP Ahmad Abdulrahman to Enugu State. The Commissioner of Police is a double Master’s degree holder, one in Criminal Justice and another in Conflict, Peace and Strategic Studies, both he obtained from the Kaduna State University.

Abdulrahman graduated from the University of Sokoto where he studied Political Science and Administration and holds a post graduate certificate in Corruption Studies from the University of Hong Kong.

Abdulrahman was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence at the FCID, Abuja, before his deployment to Enugu, a state in the eastern region that has been riddled with numerous ethnic killings and kidnapping, including the death of Rev. Fr Offu, a priest of an Anglican church.

“He has held many command positions across the Federation, viz. Kaduna, Bayelsa and Ekiti Commands,” Mba stated.

“His posting as the CP Enugu State is predicated upon his action-oriented approach to work, his track record of outstanding leadership and interpersonal relations.”
