Five people have been killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen in Zangan village, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to Mr. Bege Katuka, the interim Management Committee Chairman of the Local Government Council, who confirmed the killings to newsmen, the attackers invaded the community on Thursday evening around 4 pm.
He stated that the gunmen, who wore face masks, set several houses ablaze while shooting at the residents of the community, leaving five dead and many others injured.
“Five persons were killed while two others are still missing. A number of houses including, the new police outpost were burnt and vandalised respectively.
“We have urged the people to remain calm and have confidence in the security personnel that already have secured the area while investigation is ongoing,” Katuka said.
Reports suggest that military troops have been deployed to the affected area.
