One Killed, Others Injured As APC Supporters Clash In Niger State

There was a clash between rival chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the local government election in Niger State yesterday.

The incident, which was said to have occurred just as aspirants for the chairmanship post of Katcha Local Government collected their nomination forms to contest, left one dead and many others injured

Abubakar Nda – Bida, a supporter of one of the aspirants, Alhaji Danjuma Emindachi, was said to have died during the clash.

The incident occurred when the supporters of Alhaji Musa Ishyaku and those of Emindachi engaged in a physical fight with dangerous weapons, including daggers, cutlasses, and machetes at the river Gbako bridge.

Alhaji Jibrin Imam, the state party chairman, confirmed the incident and labelled it a “criminal matter.”

DSP Muhammad Abubakar, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, who also confirmed the incident, stated that a person connected to the incident was held in custody.
