The recruitment of resident doctors and health workers for the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Ogun State, has begun.

This was approved by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as part of his efforts to deal with the many challenges of the institution.

The health workers who would be recruited include nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and all other cadres of healthcare professionals.

The governor, after the approval, directed that advertisement should be rolled out in all departments, adding that health workers would be needed to reduce shortage of manpower to the barest minimum.

Briefing newsmen, Kunle Somorin, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said the nine-man committee chaired by Dr. Yemi Onabowale, the Chief Medical Director of Reddington Hospital, advised the government to recruit competent medical doctors to address the manpower shortage at the teaching hospital.

He noted that the governor was not pleased with the level of infrastructural and staff deficits facing the hospital during his visit in June, promising to return the tertiary healthcare facility to its past glory.

Somorin further hinted that the governor, after the inauguration of the committee, urged members to assess the operational modalities of the hospital and to suggest how to improve the standard of the care service of the institution
