Olajide Kareem, otherwise known as Seun Egbegbe, has spent thirty months in jail over his failure to meet the 5 million naira bail granted him by the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The Nollywood filmmaker, who was incarcerated sometime in February 2017, was nabbed for obtaining money by false pretences from no fewer than 40 bureau de change operators in different parts of Lagos from 2015 to 2017.
Egbegbe, the former lover of Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, made N39,098,100, $90,000 proceeds from the fraud.
Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, while delivering his judgement on 36 counts bordering on advance fee fraud, granted Egbegbe and his accomplice, Oyekan Ayomide, a 5 million naira bail with two sureties in like sum.
The Judge, thereafter, ordered them to be remanded in prison until he met the bail conditions.
However, after 30 months, Egbegbe is still languishing in Ikoyi prison over his inability to meet his bail conditions.
