Dino Melaye Reacts To Kogi Governorship Defeat

“It’s ridiculous to declare Wada winner,” says Melaye.

The sacked member of the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, has reacted to his loss at the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary election in Kogi State.

Engineer Musa Wada clinched 567 votes to defeat other candidates, including Melaye, who polled 70 votes.

Reacting to the result, Melaye said it was ridiculous to declare the final result of the primaries when his votes, sorted out on Tuesday, September 3, in eight out of 10 ballot boxes, were missing.

Melaye, who described the result as unacceptable via his official Twitter handle, has lost two elections in a row.

He was last week sent packing by the tribunal as a senator, with a court order asking the independent National Electoral Commission to hold a fresh election to ascertain a winner.

A prominent politician, Senator Smart Adeyemi, had lodged the petition, challenging Melaye’s victory before his eventual dismissal from the red chamber.
