Jonathan, Obasanjo, others honour Igbinedion on his 85th birthday.
Benin City, the Edo State capital, was agog on Tuesday when eminent Nigerians, including former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, among other dignitaries, attended the thanksgiving service held in honour of the Esama of Benin kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, on his 85th birthday.
The thanksgiving service, which held at the St. Gabriel Arch Angel Catholic Church in Benin, was also graced by parishioners, traditional rulers, politicians, clerics, friends and business associates.
In his sermon, Rev. Fr. Alfred Agbonlahor urged the congregation to accord thanksgiving, a moral obligation of Christians, all the seriousness it deserves in order to attract God’s blessings.
The catholic priest described Pa Igbinedion as a distinguished entrepreneur and a man after God’s heart, as exemplified in his contributions to the development of his home state of Edo and the nation at large.
The final leg of the birthday holds today in Benin.
