Senate President meets Buhari after his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, on Wednesday, sent a congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party on their victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Buhari, yesterday, defeated the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The Senate President, in his message, to the president urged him to focus on good governance for the betterment of the nation.
“The judgment of the tribunal has again put a judicial seal on the mandate freely given to the president by the Nigerian people in the February 23 presidential election,” he said.
Lawan also called the president to accept the affirmation of his election as a reminder of the confidence of Nigerians in his capacity to continue to lead Nigeria towards its destiny of greatness.
He commended the former vice president for using the judiciary to register his displeasure over the outcome of the election rather than engaging in violence.
Lawan urged Atiku to discard the idea of heading to the apex court to seek redress and join hands with the government to move the nation forward.
