The governorship tribunal sitting in Cross River State, on Thursday, reaffirmed the victory of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Ben Ayade.

Delivering his judgement, Justice Josiah Majebi, the Chairman of the three-man tribunal, dismissed all the pleas of Senator John Owan-Enoh of the All Progressives Congress, noting that the petition submitted before the tribunal lacked enough merit for consideration.

“We hereby find that Prof. Ben Ayade is duly elected as Governor of Cross River State in the March 9, 2019 governorship election,” Justice Majebi said, after dismissing all the prayers of the petitioner.

Enoh had approached the tribunal with a complaint that he was unlawfully excluded from the election and that he was nominated by his party to contest the election, claiming that the declaration of Ayade as governor was wrongful and requested the INEC to conduct a fresh election.

Ayade, while reacting to the ruling, dedicated his victory to God and to the good people of Cross River State.

He hailed the judgement as a reconfirmation of his victory at the March 9, 2019 governorship election.
