Former Minister, Aisha Alhassan, Defects To PDP     

Ex-minister, Aisha Alhasan, dumps UDP for PDP.

Prominent female politician, Aisha Alhassan, otherwise known as Mama Taraba, has left the United Democratic Party for Peoples Democratic Party.

Aisha was the former Minister of Women Affairs who suffered defeat in the 2019 governorship election in Taraba State, scoring only 14,651 votes in the election.

Recall in the 2015 polls, under the ruling party, Alhassan contested for governorship on the platform of APC and was able to clinch 275,966 votes to emerge second behind the present governor, Ishaku of PDP.

She was subsequently compensated with the position of Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development by President Muhammadu Buhari, but had to resign amidst doubts over her political loyalty.

Aisha, while still in office, pledged her support to her political godfather and presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar.

Mama Taraba, after her defection on Sunday in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, said she joined PDP based on the advice of her teeming supporters to change her political party.
