The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, is expected to resume his trial of N6.9 billion fraud and money laundering on October 21, 2019, before a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The former governor is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over N6.9 billion fraud and money laundering charges.

You will recall that he was first arraigned sometime last year in October before Justice Mojisola Olatotegun, alongside a company, Spotless Investment Ltd, on 11 count charges in connection with fraud and money laundering offences.

Fayose had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges and was thereafter granted bail on October 24, 2018, in the sum of 50 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had allegedly accused the controversial governor of receiving cash payment in the sum of five million dollars (about N1.8 billion) from Senator Musiliu Obanikoro without passing through any financial institution.

These are among other issues Fayose will defend come October 21 before Justice Aneke of the Federal High Court.
