Reality TV star and influencer, Kim Kardashian, has opened up about her battle with the chronic disease, Psoriasis.
Psoriasis is a serious immune disease passed on through genes of a parent to their child. According to health experts, it is a common skin condition which speeds up the life cycle of skin cells in the body.
It causes cells to build up quickly on the surface of the skin. These extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are itchy, sometimes painful and look like ringworm.
The skin disease often comes and goes but is incurable. It is usually triggered by stress, infection or cold.
Kim Kardashian revealed she first experienced psoriasis at 25 and it was triggered by a cold she had.
She also revealed that she started experiencing the disease more rapidly in her 30s and has tried different treatments all to no avail. She also encouraged young women battling with other things not to shy away from it but embrace it as part of their existence.
Nigerians have reacted to Kim Kardashian's shocking revelation, especially because she is perceived as perfect and without blemish.
Most Nigerians are of the opinion that her revelation proves that Instagram isn't perfect and that people only show what they want others to see and believe.
Some Nigerians have also suggested that the condition is a result of the many cosmetic surgeries the influencer has had.
