The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, will on Monday kick off the 2019 Olojo Festival in Ile Ife, Osun State.

The festival, which is known for socio-cultural gains for the people of the old Ife Kingdom, has contributed in no small measure to the historic values of the Yoruba heritage.

Activities of the week-long event began three weeks ago and will be celebrated with a grand finale on September 27 and 28, 2019.

Akin Adejuwon, one of the directors of the festival, in a statement made available to us, said a street carnival, titled 'Gbajure', would commence the entertainment aspect of the festival.

“The carnival will take the people round designated routes and streets within the precincts of Ife town.

“Some of the important sons and daughters of the ancient historic town will be in attendance.

“This is essentially to give clout and credence to the glorious outing.

“Usually it is the glow of the people that adds vibes and colours to the carnival.

“Already some of these important personalities have begun to arrive Ife in readiness for the grandiose epic gathering,” he said

Adejuwon hinted further that at the grand finale, the Ooni of Ife is expected to receive a large number of people, including visitors, tourists and culture enthusiasts from all over the world. He added that it would be colourful and magnificent, bringing the town to the full attention of the world.
