Emerson Palmieri will miss at least a month of football through injury, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has confirmed.

The left-back suffered a thigh injury during Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, in which fellow defender, Andreas Christensen, also went off.

Emerson, 25, was replaced by Marcos Alonso after just fifteen minutes of action and is now set to be sidelined till after the international break.

"It is the reoccurrence of an injury so we have to be a bit careful with it," Lampard told media during a press conference.

The Chelsea boss also revealed that Christensen's knee problem was "not too severe". "Hopefully he won't be out for too long but I can't give a timeframe," he answered when quizzed about the Danish defender.

Both Emerson and Christensen have been regulars for Frank Lampard this season, starting five of the Blues' six Premier League games.

Chelsea have four games to play before the international break, starting with Wednesday's EFL Cup match with Grimsby before games against Brighton and Southampton in the Premier League sandwiched between a Champions League clash at Lille.
