The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has fixed October 7, 2019, for the judgement of the case filed by the APC governorship candidate of the state, Muhammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
APC and its governorship candidate, in their petition, insisted that they had the highest lawful votes at the supplementary election on March 9, 2019. As a result, they have petitioned the tribunal to declare Abubakar the winner of the election.
They also asked the court to nullify the elections in 336 polling units in different local government areas, including Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro and Bauchi. They further asked that the incumbent governor of the state, Senator Bala Muhammed of the Peoples Democratic Party, should be sanctioned.
Justice Salihu Shuaibu, who is the presiding judge of the three-man panel, has announced the day for judgement after listening to both parties and has adjourned the sitting to a later date.
