Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has concluded arrangements to pay the new minimum wage of N30, 000 to the state civil servants at the end of October 2019.

The governor, on Saturday, made the declaration during the celebration of the 2019 World Teachers Day in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The announcement resulted in jubilation among the civil servants, who were also heard discussing in hushed tones that better days had come to the state through the governor.

Addressing the new salary scheme, Fayemi said the measure was to stimulate workers, especially teachers, to be able to deliver the best to the state to reclaim the lost glory and pride of being the nerve centre of education in the country.

“We will commence payment of N30,000 to workers in Ekiti with effect from this month, October.

“We are determined to reward diligence because the workers, particularly our teachers, have done the state proud. In this year’s WAEC, Ekiti was ranked 12th.

“I want to salute our teachers but that is not where Ekiti belongs, we must continually do more to rise to number one,” Fayemi stated.
