"Governors Afraid To Hold Owambe Party," Says Magu

Governors keep a low profile to avoid EFCC - Magu.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has revealed that some state governors are afraid of holding flamboyant parties because of the commission’s eagle eyes.

Magu made this disclosure on Monday during his working visit to the commission’s zonal office in Makurdi, the Benue State capital. He added that some of the governors were keeping a low profile.

The chairman further posited that the development was due to the fact once a public office holder violated the law, the commission would come after such a person both within and the outside country.

“EFCC is all eyes and ears; wherever and whenever they organize such ostentatious parties, they will be fished out and prosecuted, be it within or outside the country,” he said.

The acting EFCC boss added that the commission would not relent in its efforts in curbing state governors' excesses, stressing that necessary strategic plans to fight against corruption were in place.
