Jessica Nabongo, an Ugandan travel blogger, was recently celebrated by family and friends in East African Archipelago for being the first black woman to visit every country in the world.

The travel blogger, who revealed that she had been travelling internationally since age four, was born in the US to Ugandan parents.

“I began my journey to every country in the world because I’m a geography nerd, curious about other cultures, and want to show the world through a lens that we rarely view it from – that of a black woman,” she said.

Six months ago, Jessica who had travelled to 151 countries announced her plans to visit the remaining 44 countries and become the first black woman to travel the world.

“I’ll end it on October 6 and the reason I chose it is because it’s my father’s birthday,” she stated.

She mentioned her desire to stop the world narrative and assumptions “that many countries are dangerous, people are miserable and that you cannot have nice, luxury vacations on the (African) continent.”
