Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, is set to spend a lengthy period on the sidelines due to the injury he sustained during the Brazil friendly.

The 20-year-old suffered a severe twist on his knee when he landed awkwardly after contesting for a ball in the air during the 1-1 draw with Brazil on Sunday

At first, the reports were that the shot-stopper was going to miss just a few weeks but it seems the Depotivo La Coruna man who is on loan to Cyprus club, Omonia Nicosia, could miss months of action.

In a statement released by the club, it was confirmed that the player "has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus."

They, however, didn't specify how long they expected him to be out for but it is most likely he would miss the next few games of the Super Eagles, including the Nations Cup qualifier against the Benin Republic next month.

A positive Uzoho took to his social media page to thank the fans for their support while promising that he would be back stronger.

"Thank you all for the kindness. Trust me you all will see a stronger and the best Uzoho Francis when I'm back in a very short time," he wrote.

In Uzoho's absence, Gernot Rohr could turn to either Maduka Okoye who replaced Uzoho in the friendly against Brazil or Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
