24 Billion Fraud: Ambode fails to appear before the National Assembly again.
Akinwunmi Ambode, the immediate past Governor of Lagos State, on Tuesday failed to appear before the 16-man House of Assembly Committee set up to investigate his questionable activities during the last administration.
The former governor is being investigated by the Lagos State House of Assembly over the purchase of 820 mass transit buses at about N7 billion without following due process.
Recall, last week, the house threatened to issue a warrant of arrest on the governor for not showing up to defend himself before they agreed to exercise patience till yesterday.
The governor's alleged accomplices, including his former Commissioners for Finance, Akinyemi Ashade, and Special Duties, Seye Oladejo, were absent but had earlier written to the house to inform them of their absence.
The former governor’s attitude and refusal to appear at the assembly may likely escalate the issue of the warrant of arrest earlier suggested by the house.
