After several moves by the South African government and Nigeria to end xenophobic attacks in the former apartheid enclave, another Nigerian identified as Ikenna Innocent Otugo has just lost his life.

The acting Chairman of Nigerian Union, South Africa (NUSA), Sylvester Okonkwo, confirmed the death of Otugo on Wednesday, saying the deceased was killed at Empangeni on Tuesday.

Further checks confirmed that Otugo, who was a native of Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, was stabbed by unknown men over a business disagreement.

“Otugo died on the way to the hospital following the stabbing. We have reported the incident to the police and national secretariat of our union, NUSA.

"His body is now in the mortuary awaiting autopsy,” Okonkwo stated.

Survived by a nine-year-old son, Otugo was 41 before his death.
