Former Manchester United player, Michael Stewart, feels Joe Aribo will struggle at Ibrox, despite his brilliant performance against Brazil.

The Nigerian midfielder was one of the best performers when the West Africans clashed with the Copa America champions in last Sunday's international friendly in Singapore.

But the ex-Scotland international believes Joe Aribo will have a hard time staking a claim for a regular shirt at Rangers having missed their last three games and with the squad looking settled in his absence.

“Well, it is not going to be easy," Stewart said on the Ladbrokes Social Club.

“Obviously, Rangers are going great guns at the moment and they have got a good balance in that area of the park. There is no doubt that he is a good addition to the Rangers squad.

“To go and score against Brazil is massive [for him].”

23-year-old Aribo joined Rangers - who are top of the Scottish Premiership - this season from Charlton Athletic and has made 16 competitive appearances, scoring four times.

It's that good form of his that attracted him to Gernot Rohr who handed him a call-up and his debut against Ukraine last month.

Aribo seized the opportunity by scoring the first goal in the 2-2 draw before scoring again against Brazil on Sunday.

The London-born star would be hoping to get a run out when Steven Gerrard's side make the trip to ninth-placed Hearts this Sunday.
