22-year-old Riya Bhatia defeated Nastja Kolar in the final to win the women's tennis single's title at the Lagos Open on Monday.
The Indian beat her Slovenian opponent 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 to win her third single's title in the professional circuit.
In a final that was moved back by 24 hours because of the heavy downpour in Lagos on Sunday, Riya showed good resolve to win the first of the two finals that day.
She won a very close 1st set before losing her way in the second but she did step up her game in the final set to win her first title in two years.
Last week, Riya crashed out in the semi-finals when she lost to Brazilian, Laura Pigossi, who lost to Nahimana's eventual champion, Sada Nahimana of Burundi. But there was no stopping her this week the way she played.
The win for Riya means she now holds a 2-1 head-to-head lead over Kolar in the games between the two, having lost to the Slovenian in Muzaffar Nagar last November.
