Justice Oweibo of Federal High Court, Lagos, on Thursday adjourned the fraud case involving former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, till November 25, 2019.

He was earlier today arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for an alleged fraud running into N1.23bn.

His re-arraignment is following the transfer of the case from Justice Obiozor to Justice Oweibo.

The commission, while reading the charges against Iwu, disclosed that he committed the offence in preparation of the 2015 general election where former President Goodluck Jonathan lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The anti-graft agency, in its revelation, noted that the former university don aided the concealment of N1.23bn in United Bank For Africa (UBA) with account number 1018603119 and account name, Bioresources Institute of Nigeria Limited.

But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges before the case was adjourned till next month.
