Court fixes October 28 for Ekweremadu's election case.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu on Friday fixed October 28 for the hearing of the petition against Chief Ike Ewkeremadu, the former Deputy President of the Senate.
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, is challenging the victory of the senator in the February 23 Senatorial Election for Enugu West District.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party the winner of the contest.
In favour of Ekweremadu, the tribunal on September 9, 2019, also affirmed his victory before Nwagwu headed to the Appeal Court, accusing the tribunal of miscarriage of justice.
After the cross-examination, the Chairman of the panel, Justice I. M. Saluwa, who had insisted on going ahead with the matter after consulting with members of the panel adjourned until October 28.
Saluwa, however, called all the parties involved to file the briefs stating their arguments.
