Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has requested for CAF to change the date of Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Benin Republic.

The West African rivals are set to meet in the first game of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers but the Nigerian coach is dissatisfied with the date scheduled for the match by the continent's football governing body.

While speaking with BBC's Osasu Obayiuwana, Rohr insisted that fixing the match for November 13, just two days after the international break opens, is disrespectful to the teams involved.

The German tactician said he has written to CAF as well as Benin Republic's coach to ask for the date to be changed.

“Our game against Benin is on November 13th, which is a Wednesday. The FIFA window opens on Monday. When will our players arrive and prepare for this game?” Rohr said in a chat with Osasu.

“It’s ridiculous. We need to be respected and I have spoken to CAF’s Anthony Baffoe about it.

“I have also spoken to Michel Dussuyer, the Benin coach, as well. We need this date to be changed, so that the teams can arrive and train properly, for this game. Match scheduling must be done properly.”

Nigeria's home game against the Squirrels of Benin is one of two AFCON qualifying matches to be played by the three-time African champions. The other game is an away fixture scheduled for the 19th of November against Lesotho.
