Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, was substituted in the 58th minute of Lille's 3-0 home win over Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The striker, who had previously netted in all of his previous games for Lille in Ligue 1 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, saw that run come to an end after he suffered a groin injury.

Osimhen's replacement, Loic Remy, wrapped up the win for Christophe Galtier's side after Benjamin Andre and Yusuf Yazici had set them on track for a vital three points.

But what could have been a perfect day in the office for Les Dogues was marred by injuries to captain, Jose Fonte, who was withdrawn at half-time and Osimhen just 13 minutes after the restart.

Speaking after the game, Lille coach, Galtier, spoke about the injury suffered by both players: "José Fonte came out at half-time, he had a shot on the thigh that turned into contracture. Victor Osimhen has a pain in the adductor, it can be a nuisance."

Osimhen's injury would be a source of worry for Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr, who has already lost his first-choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, to a long-term injury.

Nigeria will lock horns with Benin Republic at home and Lesotho, away, in next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Meanwhile, Osimhen's national teammates, Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja, were second-half substitutes for Bordeaux, coming on for Ait Bennasser and Francois Kamano respectively.

The victory lifted Lille into the third position in the Ligue 1 table while Bordeaux who have now suffered back to back defeats dropped to seventh.
