The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday, disclosed that the federal government would map out plans to sanitize social media, which is presently out of control.
The minister, while addressing the media at a press conference in Abuja, noted that a responsible government would not look on while such activities cripple the country’s image without putting it in check.
“It has reached a level that the government may just no longer fold its arms and allow this to continue,” he said.
Muhammed assured journalists not to panic over the move, adding that the government’s intention is not to gag the media
He said government’s plan was to restore sanity to the nation’s airwaves
