Akinwunmi Ambode, the immediate past Lagos State governor, on Tuesday asked the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja to stop the State House of Assembly from probing him over the 820 mass transit buses purchased by his administration.
Recall that the former governor was scheduled to appear today before the Lagos State House Assembly to give an account of his involvement in the purchase of BRT buses.
Before now, the speaker, Hon Mudashiru Obasa, had threatened that the house would order for the arrest of the accountant turned politician if he fails to appear today.
But in a swift move, the former governor through his lawyer, Tayo Oyetibo, on Tuesday went to court ahead of today’s appearance to seek an injunction against the lawmakers.
Justice Adesanya, after listening to the prayers of Ambode’s counsel, ordered that a notice of hearing should be sent to all respondents involved.
The first hearing is expected to hold today.
