Supreme Court Upholds Buhari’s Victory, Dismisses Atiku’s Appeal

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, lost again at the Supreme Court in an appeal filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019, presidential election.

Justice Tanko Muhammad, the Chief Justice of Nigeria who led six other members of the apex court’s panel, delivered the judgement in favour of the president.

Addressing the court, Tanko said that Atiku’s appeal lacked merit to challenge the ruling party’s candidate, adding that the reason for the apex court’s decision on the ruling would be made known on a later date.

Recall, since the beginning of his legal battle in a bid to reclaim his stolen mandate from Mr President, Atiku has lost three cases in a row.

He first lost at the election tribunal before heading to the Appeal Court.

His loss at the appellate court led to his appeal at the apex court.
