There was a massive protest by students of the University of Benin, Benin City, over the poor state of the school and welfare of the students.
The protest saw thousands of students gather along the Benin-Lagos Expressway, as they called out the management of the school over the lack of basic amenities.
The massive crowd shut down the ever-busy Benin-Lagos Expressway, causing a heavy gridlock as they registered their displeasure about the alleged deplorable state of infrastructure in the university.
Lack of electricity, water, and security in the school, poor welfare of students, bad roads, amongst others, were some of the things students protested against.
There were police operatives on ground to keep the students in check, as they continued their protests into the night.
According to PM News, an unnamed source close to the office of the PRO revealed that the management was already in discussions with the protesting students with a view to resolving the contending issues.
