There was pandemonium on Friday at the University of Benin where one student was allegedly murdered during a carnival.
According to reports circulating online, the young man who has been identified as Aficionado, a popular event hypeman, was shot in the head by a rival cult group.
The heart-wrenching incident happened in broad daylight during the Faculty of Social Sciences Final Year Jean Carnival.
In a video that has since gone viral, many students were seen scampering to safety after the cult guys disrupted the party with gunshots.
The video also captures the moment Aficionado, whose real name has been given as Moses, dropped dead after he was hit by the bullet as the unknown gunmen took off from the scene and abandoned him before they could be identified.
Before his demise, Moses, aka Aficionado, was a hypeman for multiple clubs in Benin City, including one located just opposite the school’s main gate, known as Penthouse.
It is yet unclear if he was a cult member who was specifically targeted by a rival group or he was just the casualty from a random attack.
In another video, some suspected cultists were seen assaulting one student, right after the final exams in Uniben.
Meanwhile, while the unfortunate attacks were going on in the school, some other students were protesting against the school management.
Hundreds of UNIBEN students were seen on the Lagos-Benin Expressway protesting the poor conditions in the school which they have had to endure for some time.
