A celebrity hairstylist and make-up artist, who has been identified as Ricardo Marques Ferreira, was found dead in a Swiss hotel room.
The Portuguese national was found by a cleaner at a business hotel in Zurich's Albisrieden neighbourhood on Friday.
According to Portugal's leading tabloid, ‘Correio da Manha’, the deceased was Cristiano Ronaldo's hairdresser.
Ferreira had in September 2015 shared a photo of himself putting the final touches to the footballer's look for a photoshoot on social media.
The dead man, who was from the island of Madeira, like Cristiano, was discovered around 2 pm on Friday in bed with multiple stab wounds, although the murder weapon was not found at the scene.
Zurich Forensic Institute, in a statement, confirmed that Swiss police had arrested a 39-year-old Brazilian man linked with the crime.
"A 39-year-old Brazilian was arrested by regional police investigators at his place of residence and taken to the relevant prosecutor's office. The background and motive of the crime are subject to ongoing investigation," the statement read.
No official comment on the possible motive for the crime has been given.
