Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has visited the Olympics Eagles camp as they continue their preparations for the African U-23 championship.

Members of the Nigerian U-23 team are applying finishing touches on their game plans ahead of their opening game against Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday in Egypt.

In a move to try and lift the spirits of the boys, Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Rohr, paid a solidarity visit to the team on Sunday.

The team, currently camped in Ismailia, Egypt, under the guidance of head coach Imama Amapakabo received the German tactician who expressed his support for the team as they attempt to defend their title.

Nigeria won the last edition of the tournament in Senegal, defeating Algeria 2-1 in the finals and this current crop of players will be hoping to repeat that feat.

“I’m here for a solidarity visit,” Gernot Rohr said to the boys.

“I believe some of you will join me at Super Eagles someday. This team is full of potentials and I will be here to watch your first game against Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday.

“I hope you will give all your best to make sure the team achieve its aim in this Afcon U23 tournament.

“I will be leaving on Sunday because the Super Eagles are also preparing for the Afcon qualifiers.”

Ogenekaro Etebo, who scored 5 goals and finished top scorer of the 2015 tournament, has moved on to become a vital member of the Super Eagles.

A younger Victor Osimhen who was a 16-year-old at the time was also part of the team.

The 2019 edition kicks off on Friday but Nigeria will play their first group game on Saturday 9th of November at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo.

The dream team will then face Zambia on Tuesday before wrapping up their group games three days later against South Africa.
