Human rights activists, today, gathered at the office of the Department of State Services in Abuja to protest the continuous detention of Omoyele Sowore, flouting two court orders to release him.

Sowore has been a captive of the State Security Service since his abduction in early August. Although he was charged to court, he was granted bail on stringent conditions.

His bail conditions have since been met by his lawyers but the DSS has refused to let him go, citing one reason or another.

On Friday, a statement by the DSS claimed Sowore has not been released because nobody had come to receive him from their custody.

Sowore's defence team, led by Femi Falana SAN, refuted those claims, countering that they were at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Friday but their client wasn't released to them.

That revelation drew some strong reactions from Nigerians on social media, with Human Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, offering to go pick up the 2019 presidential elections candidate.
