A 30-year-old Nigerian man has reportedly suffered kidney failure after the excessive intake of locally made drugs, popularly known as 'agbo.'
The story of the young man was shared by popular Nigerian online doctor, Aproko.
According to the doctor, who usually shares health tips on his Twitter page, the man who was diagnosed with kidney failure revealed that he regularly took 'agbo' as medication.
"Just seeing a young man in the hospital, 30 years. His kidneys have failed, " Aproko began.
"We asked him questions and found that he took herbal medicines a lot.
"Aside from it being harmful to the kidneys, some Agbo sellers add drugs to it, drugs that can harm your kidneys."
Herbal medicine is a popular form of medication taken by Nigerians, especially those who are not rich enough to go to hospitals.
