Goals by French-based forwards, Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu, overturned Stephane Sessegnon's early strike for the Squirrels of Benin to avoid what could be the shock of the international break.

Nigeria was home and playing in front of their fans. So, many people expected them to win comfortably, especially after the fine performances in the previous two international breaks.

That they did but it wasn't all that rosy for Gernot Rohr's men, as Benin caused quite a few scares and almost got an equalizer later on.

The Super Eagles created lots of chances and would have been cursing their luck if they didn't get the victory.

Villarreal forward, Samuel Chukwueze, was a life wire all through his time on the pitch but his beautiful runs lacked a matching level of finishing.

In midfield, Joe Aribo made his competitive debut and he seemed so settled you would think he had been playing in front of Nigerian fans all his life while his partner in midfield, Alex Iwobi, had one of those ordinary games where his influence wasn't felt by those around him.

The defence line was the bedrock of every of the team's attack but there were question marks about their concentration level a few times in the game.

In all, the three points which would have definitely been the target was won, and now, the boys can switch attention to the game against Lesotho.
