Nigeria took a bold step in the qualification series for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 4-2 win against Lesotho.

In what was the Super Eagles' final game of the year, one man grabbed the headline with his breathtaking performance in Maseru.

Victor has been in incredible form for French Ligue 1 side, Lille, since joining them in the summer and the 20-year-old replicated that red hot form in Nigerian colours.

The former U-17 world champion and golden boot winner, who retained his slot as the arrowhead of Gernot Rohr's side, scored a brace and assisted his teammates with the other two goals.

Following his exploits in the game, some Super Eagles fans have started to compare him with the AFCON 2019 top scorer.

But Osimhen has been quick to shut down the comparison, stating that it is disrespectful to Ighalo.

“There is no comparison between me and Ighalo, what he has done for the national team is far from what anybody can compare me and him with,” Osimhen told China Acheru in an interview even before the game against Lesotho.

“He is a legend like every one of us are saying, I spoke to him about it and he gave me some candid advice which has been helping me, not just in the national team, also in my club.

“For people to compare me and Ighalo, for me it is disrespectful to do such. He’s a great player, of course, we know what he’s done with the pressure coming from left and right, he still kept his cool.

“It’s disrespectful to compare me and Ighalo because we are different players and there are some things I watch in his game and try to add to mine.

“He’s more experienced than me, I am still growing up, I am still trying to learn a lot so I think for me to be compared with him I don’t think it’s the right thing for now."
