The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that the country has no valid reason to remain underdeveloped, whilst identifying technological advancement as the catalyst for the country's development.

The president made this known on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of Senior Executive Course 41 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, where he was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

In a statement read by the Vice President, President Buhari stated that the opportunities in technology are endless and Nigeria is yet to embrace the changes and advancement of the tech world.

"We can simply leapfrog, and there is so much room for that and we don't have to evolve through the decades again. We are already positioned to take advantage of technology to move the development further," Buhari said.

The president also identified the agricultural sector as one that has been transformed by the influence of technology, stating that his administration has been putting in place the groundwork for the advancement of Nigeria in the world of technology.

Nigeria, according to surveys done by institutions, is underdeveloped since it failed to evolve in its economy and use of state-of-the-art technology in various sectors of the country where it is in demand.

Such sectors include agriculture, petroleum refineries, manufacturing, production and transportation, to name a few.
