A 17-year-old boy, Somto, has reportedly tied the knot with his 16-year-old fiancee in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria.
They were joined together traditionally, according to the customs of the land, after they pressured their family about getting married.
According to reports, the groom who hails from Okofia village in Otolo Nnewi dropped out of school last month as he insisted that he wanted to get married.
At first, the family was reluctant to give in to his request but when he continually insisted, they succumbed and granted his request. The marriage rights, according to reports, were performed last weekend in Anambra State.
Speculations suggest that the boy is the only child; hence the early marriage. However, these claims have been refuted with reports that he has an elder brother who works in a hospital in Anambra.
As a means to support the newly weds, the family reportedly opened a retail shop for them to manage.
