Enugu Rangers have appointed a new coaching crew ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup group opener against Pyramids of Egypt.

The Flying Antelopes, who sacked their former coach, Benedict Ugwu, and his backroom staff after the loss against Akwa Starlets have now appointed former Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf, and he will be assisted by ex-Delta Force coach, Mbwas Mangut.

Salisu was recently saved of a one-year ban from all footballing activities for his involvement in a bribery incident.

The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars boss was sent by the Nigerian Football Federation to render assistance to the club, especially in their continental engagements.

"I am here on a technical assistance from the federation (NFF) as the club, Rangers International F.C is representing the country in continental club football," Yusuf is quoted to have said after his appointment.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the club, Norbert Okolie, has reportedly praised the appointment of the experienced tactician who had previously managed Enyimba and Kano Pillars before he was appointed as coach of the Super Eagles.

“It’s great to have a coach in the calibre of Salisu Yusuf. We thank the NFF for doing us this big favour,” Norbert Okolie told SCORENigeria,” Okolie said.

“He has told us he hopes to turn around the fortunes of Rangers alongside his assistant Mbwas Mangut.”

The first call of duty for the newly appointed technical crew will be a CAF Confederations Cup tie against Pyramids of Egypt on Sunday in Enugu.
