Super Eagles striker, Joshua Maja, was in sublime form for his club, Bordeaux, as they ran riot against Nimes in the French Ligue 1 on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian international scored his first career hat-trick in the 6-0 mauling of visiting Nimes at the Matmut Atlantique stadium in Bordeaux.

Maja scored a first-half double in the 24th and 37th minute before making sure of the result early in the second half with his third goal just eight minutes after the restart.

Crowd disturbance threatened to halt the match when angry fans who were demanding the resignation of the club's president stormed the pitchside 11 minutes into the game to protest.

The protest, which forced the referee, Clément Turpin, to stop the game and send the players back into the tunnel lasted for about 25 minutes before it was resolved and the game continued.

Despite the ugly scenes caused by their fans, Les Girondins players reacted perfectly after the enforced break to put six past their opponent.

After 24 minutes of play, Josh Maja opened the scoring for Bordeaux when he finished off Youssouf Sabaly's delightful pass.
