President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the first Nigerian made military war vehicle, also known as the ‘Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles’ in Kaduna State. These vehicles are designed for military operational use in the North-East.

The war vehicle with the code name ‘Ezugwu’ owes its manufacturing credits to the Defence Industrial Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna.

In addition to the commissioning of the vehicle, the President also inaugurated the newly-built ultra-modern Army Reference Hospital.

Buhari applauded the Nigerian military for preserving the territorial uprightness of the country while speaking at the 2019 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference as he commissioned the war vehicle and the hospital.

While rendering his speech, he admonished the military to always venerate the fundamental human rights and international humanitarian laws in the conduct of operations and dissemination of duties across the country.

President Buhari also pledged that his administration would not relent in providing support to the military in its quest for modernisation.

Buhari noted that the government is aware of the risk and consequences attached to the activities of the army. He thereby used the medium to extend his condolences to the families of the officers who lost their lives and those who sustained various injuries while protecting the nation.

He concluded by praising the army for its achievements so far and urged the soldiers to continue to obey the ethical codes of the force while ensuring that human rights are respected in the conduct of military operations.
