Girondins Bordeaux forward, Josh Maja, has reacted to his three-goal heroics in his club's 6-0 thrashing of Nimes in their matchday 16 Ligue 1 encounter.

The Super Eagles forward became the fourth Nigerian international to score a hat-trick in the French top-flight, following in the footsteps of the retired Victor Agali, John Utaka and Peter Osaze Odemwingie.

Maja scored in the 24th, 37th and 53rd minutes of the contest on Tuesday night at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique to take his tally to five for the season.

Speaking to Canal+ Television after the match, an excited Maja said he was going to speak with his family about his big night, as he was yet to believe it himself.

''It is an amazing feeling, I can't really describe it because I don't think it has sunk in yet and I think once I get home and I speak to my family and I realize what I have done I will be even more happy,'' he said.

Aged 20 years, 11 months and 6 days, the England-born attacker is now the youngest of the four Nigerians in that exclusive list to achieve that feat.

He had initially struggled to tie down a regular place in the team at the start of the season, but a consistent run of games has seen the youngster spark to life, netting four times in his last two games.

Maja would hope to continue his good form at the Stade Velodrome this Sunday when his team travels to face second-placed side, Marseille.
