The Super Eagles technical adviser has reportedly told his bosses to prioritise a move for Reading’s Ovie Ejiara, who is on loan from Liverpool, over QPR’s Eberechi Eze.

Gernot Rohr is desperate for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to lure Ejiara who has represented England at age-grade levels to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria.

The England-born midfielder has shown versatility under Mark Bowen at the Madejski Stadium and Rohr is keen to add him and not Eze to his squad.

“He’s (Ovie Ejiara) a good player no doubt and I will prefer him in the team now than the player (Eberechi Eze) the Federation are in talks with,” the German tactician is quoted to have said by ‘The Punch’.

“We will contact him and know what must be done to make him play for us. He is a better player than Eze.

“My fears are if we start chasing him in the media, England may join the race and it could be difficult.”

At the moment, neither Ejiara nor Eze is close to pledging his international future to Nigeria, with both youngsters representing England's U-21 team last month.

Meanwhile, Belgium-born striker, Cyriel Dessers, who is the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie has decided to play for Nigeria instead of Belgium.
