Luke Shaw Mocks Romelu Lukaku Following Champions League Exit

Manchester United left-back, Luke Shaw, has taken to Twitter to mock his former team-mate, Romelu Lukaku after they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Inter's 1-2 loss to Barcelona on Tuesday meant that the Nerazurris would have to settle for the third position in their group, which ensures an exit of the UEFA Champions League and a direct entry to the Europa League.

Lukaku had left Manchester United for Inter Milan this summer. While Manchester United, his former employers ply their trade in the Europa League, Lukaku enjoyed playing in the Champions League football with Inter.

Lukaku, in October, posted a picture of himself on Twitter with a caption "UCL". The message seemed harmless, but many Manchester United faithful felt the Belgian forward was taken a swipe at United who plays in the Europa League.

The England international, Luke Shaw, who just returned to the pitch after a lengthy spell of injury, has taken a bit of pleasure in seeing Lukaku drop out of the Champions League and back into the Europa League.

Shaw, who had managed to find that old tweet of Lukaku about playing in the Champions League, quoted the tweet and added a simple reply:

“Welcome back” with a winking emoji.

Luke Shaw might have spent more time on the sideline so far this season, but Manchester United fans might be delighted with this Twitter trolling from their left-back.

It remains to be seen if Lukaku would respond to Luke Shaw and spice up a frontal war of words on Twitter or ignore the troll.

Take a minute to imagine the scenario if these two teams, Inter Milan and Manchester United, end up facing off in the Europa League later this season!
