The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to arrange two high-profile friendly matches against top European nations, Italy and Germany in 2020.

Having played against the current South American champions, Brazil, two months ago, the NFF is looking forward to keeping the momentum by organising more top friendly matches for the Super Eagles next year.

According to reports, the Nigerian football administrators have former World Champions, Italy and Germany on top of the list of national teams they want to set up friendlies with.

In a chat with Opera News quoted on www.bsnsports.com.ng, NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, said:

"We want to maximise the FIFA's windows by playing quality matches. It is not about playing matches but about quality opposition to strengthen the Super Eagles."

Nigeria will continue their 2021 AFCON qualifiers alongside the World Cup qualification games which also begins next year with the friendlies most likely to be sandwiched in-between.

"It is a fairly long time since we played Italy and we will want to take them on again. We also need a friendly match against Germany, " Sanusi continued.

"We are not interested in teams below us in FIFA's ranking.

"There is one thing the friendly against Brazil did, it helped to boost and give Eagles the necessary confidence."

The official or friendly FIFA windows for 2020 have been fixed for March 23-31, August 31-8 September, October 5-13, and November 9-17.
