Cyriel Dessers was on the scoresheet for Heracles Armelo in their 1-1 draw against SC Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The Belgian-born Nigerian eligible striker scored his 12th goal of the season in the Dutch top-flight, surpassing a personal record he first set during the 2016-2017 season while playing in the Dutch second-tier for NAC Breda.

Dessers, who recently pledged his international allegiance to Nigeria, continued his fine run of form when he notched the opening goal for Heracles away at Heerenveen on Saturday.

The forward capitalized on a defensive error to break through the hosts’ backline before finishing calmly past Warner Hahn to score what was his 15th goal in all competitions in the 54th minute.

His strike was, however, cancelled two minutes later. Joey Veerman connected with a pass inside the box and slammed home into the bottom right corner.

Both sides pushed for a winner but neither team was able to breach the other's goal, leaving the two sides sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw ahead of the Winter recess.

Heracles are ninth on the log with 26 points, while Heerenveen are two points ahead of them in sixth, heading into the winter recess.

25-year-old Dessers is now the top scorer in the division with 12 strikes, leaving Donyell Malen, Myron Boadu and Steven Berghuis (all 11 goals) in his wake.
