Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, have been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) following an order by the Federal Government.

The order for the release of the duo was given by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to the DSS on Tuesday.

Reacting to the release, Dasuki’s counsel, Ahmed Raji (SAN), said: “We thank God Almighty. We thank God Almighty. And we thank God Almighty.

“We thank the president of our country, the Attorney General of the federation, the entire Judiciary and all Nigerians. It is well with us. May God continue to be with all of us.”

While thanking Nigerians for making his release possible, Sowore said: "The only thing to say is to thank Nigerians, they are the ones who made this happen.”

Sowore was arrested in August shortly before a protest he was leading and charged with treason, while Dasuki has been on trial since 2015 for alleged corruption to the tune of billions of naira.
