The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has stated that the order for the release of the #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, and a former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd.), by the Federal Government is a new dawn for Nigeria's democracy.

The CAN President, Rev Samson Ayokunle, in a statement on Tuesday, said, “The action of the government is commendable and it is a new dawn for democracy."

He added that “As long as the Federal Government continues to respect the rule of law and the constitution, the Christian Association of Nigeria will continue to work with the government to ensure that there is peace and stability in the polity.”

The release of Sowore and Dasuki was made possible by the order issued by the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, late on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Christian leader said, “We will not cease to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and his team for a successful tenure of office.”
